The new wooden jewellery is now in the shop! Burning Wood jewellery consists of rings, hair clips and earrings – some nice little things to wear if you’re not a full out, big jewellery kind of a person. There are three different designs (all animals of course) – a butterfly, a dragonfly and a little blue tit.

The illustrations on this jewellery are made by burning the design directly into the wood, a technique is called pyrography. It’s basically like drawing, only with a really really hot tool! I did a blog post a couple of weeks ago which explains a bit more about how I make them, which you can read here if you are interested: New wooden jewellery.
The designs are inspired, of course, by nature. But instead of painting them with man-made paints, burning straight into the wood felt like a much more organic, back-to-nature way of creating pictures. And the smell of lightly burning wood is so lovely! Not so much the smell of burning fingers or fringe, but hey I made sacrifices.

You can see all these designs and more in the Burning Wood section of the shop. x

I have tried my hand at pyrography and never with great results, you truly need an artists touch, well done.
Thanks Paul, I have burnt my fingers a few times in the process!
